The Corinium Museum in Cirencester is a hidden gem of this charming Cotswold town.

The museum cares for around one and a half million archaeological and social history objects in the Council's collections. These collections are significant both nationally and internationally. Many of the objects are displayed at the recently refurbished and extended Corinium Museum, Cirencester.

About the Corinium Museum


Leave the 21st century behind you and discover the treasures of the Cotswolds as you explore its history at this award winning Museum. Home to one of the largest collections of Romano-British antiquities extensively from Corinium, Roman Britain's second largest city.

Admire the work of Prehistoric metal smiths. Marvel at the Roman mosaics as you take a peek through the window of a Roman villa. Come face to face with the Anglo Saxons and their buried treasures. Be amazed by Medieval Sculpture, Civil War coin hoards and experience the elegance of Victorian Cirencester. An inspiring and interactive experience for everyone.

Special events, exhibitions and workshops take place through out the year and the museum is fully accessible with a gift shop, the Cirencester Visitor Information Centre and a Cafe on site.

Wood Fired Ceramics
11 July - 3 August#8232;

Eeles Family Pottery, based in Mosterton, West Dorset, are delighted to announce that they are holding an exhibition of over 300 pieces of new work at the Corinium Museum. The family of 5 potters create stoneware, porcelain and raku using basic ingredients such as ball clay from near Poole, china clay from South Devon, fine alluvial sand from West Dorset and granite from Cornwall. Most simple ingredients used with rare skill, create the most unusual results.

Discovery
8 August - 6 September

‘Discovery’ is the latest exhibition presented by Creative Forum. As artists and makers move through their creative life, the process of discovery is an ongoing process and an important part of their practice. This exhibition presents a diverse range of work by members of the group including paintings, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography and jewellery.

The group meets once a month at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester and is made up of local artists and makers at various stages in their creative careers, from aspiring to professional.
