Tetbury
Tetbury is a town steeped in history and can be found in one of the most beautiful parts of the Cotswolds, approximately 12 miles from Cirencester.Through the middle-ages Tetbury's market grew in reputation as a centre for the best in Cotswold wool & yarn
The wool sack race, which is still run annually, is believed to have been born during Tetbury's early trade in wool. The race is run up a 1 in 4 hill and has been given world record status.
Essentially a sleepy Cotswold town, Tetbury is perhaps closer to its origins that other Cotswold places and wonderful arcitecture can be found wherever you look.

The Priory Inn, Tetbury, puts a 30 MILE FOOD ZONE on the map, and promises that ‘local’ really does mean ‘local’
8 October 2008
The Priory Inn, Tetbury, the family-friendly gastro-inn in the heart of the Cotswolds, is launching a 30 MILE FOOD ZONE from 1st November, to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to high quality local produce. This means that every possible food product (including around 90% of its menu) will come from within 30 miles of the picturesque market town of Tetbury.
The Priory Inn is known for its high quality local fare, and has won numerous awards over the past 4 years for its food. Owners Tanya and Dave Kelly have always been the strongest and most vocal supporters of buying locally, but they feel that local produce has become a bit of a ‘band-wagon’, with some restaurants jumping on-board without really practising what they preach.
Owner Tanya Kelly says: “Many places talk the ‘local food’ talk now and ‘low food miles’ has become a well-trodden path. This is definitely what consumers want, but how do you really know that you are getting locally produced food? We want our customers to know that we have substance behind our “local” statement, and we are not just paying lip service for the sake of good press. We are committed to supporting the local economy, so when you eat at The Priory Inn, you are guaranteed local food and we will tell you about our dedicated and passionate suppliers. To this end we are committing ourselves to a 30 MILE FOOD ZONE and only when it is absolutely necessary will we buy food and other products from outside that zone. We provide information about our local farmers and producers on our menus and customers will be told exactly where the beef they are eating was reared,
and where the grapes were grown to produce the bubbly they are drinking. As an example of a truly local lunchtime dish, you can enjoy the 8-Mile Burger which is made from Willesley organic beef, with onion and beetroot from The Duchy Home Farm, Holy Smoked Cheese from Leonard Stanley and a fried Sherston free-range egg. Of course the burger bap is home-made using the best organic flour from Shipton Mill.”
The management team behind The Priory boasts years of hospitality experience between them, working in and launching high profile hotel and restaurant establishments in New York, London and Hertfordshire.
The Priory Inn is situated in Tetbury, a beautiful market town in the heart of the Cotswolds which is one of the most important antiques centres in the UK. It is 2 miles from the Royal home of Highgrove. The hotel has 14 ensuite contemporary bedrooms.
