Woodstock

While you may not have heard of Woodstock, you will probably have heard of Blenheim Palace and Winston Churchill.

Woodstock is where you will find Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and nearby Bladon is where you can find his grave.

Woodstock means "settlement in the woods".

Many people will visit Blenheim Palace without actually venturing into Woodstock itself as the main entrance to Blenheim Palace is just outside Woodstock itself. If you are visiting Blenheim Palace, take some time out to venture into Woodstock as it has a charming centre with many shops, pubs and restaurants.

Woodstock Neighbourhood Management Update - June

Neighbourhood Specialist Officer PC Richard Conner reports that, “May has seen an increase in car crime throughout the area, please be extra vigilant when parking at the local beauty spots and take valuables with you, or leave them at home.

“We are still looking for new members for the Woodstock Neighbourhood Action Group. If you are interested or would like to know more speak to the team or visit the police station on Hensington Road, Woodstock.”

“On Thursday 22 May PCSO Workman attended Bladon’s Parish Annual Meeting. He told them the good news that crime has fallen overall by 37% on the previous year and that criminal damage in particular is down by 57%.

“However, on Tuesday 6 May at 4am, a property in Woodstock Road had its front wooden porch kicked in and fishing equipment was stolen. Also on 6 May, between 6.30pm and 7.15pm, plants were pulled out of the front garden of a house in Oxford Road. This is mindless criminal damage, did you see anything?

“Between Monday 5 May and Tuesday 6 May a car was broken into in the Black Prince public house car park. Between Thursday 1 May and Friday 16 May a blue and white boy’s mountain bike was stolen from a garden in Bear Close. Do you have any information about these thefts?

“On Friday 23 May at midday a man was arrested at the Co-op for trying to steal a trolley full of food.

“PCSO Phil Workman took a group of Guides to Witney police station who enjoyed the visit very much.
