Homeowners in the Cotswolds will have benefitted from the UK average house price increases over the past year. Property prices in the Cotswolds were seeing a 10.7% increase over the past year and the average sale price of property in the Cotswolds rose by £41,000. First-time buyers in the Cotswolds spent an average of £315,000 on their property, £28,000 more than a year ago (ref: Wilts & Gloucestershire Standard, February 2021).
Contributing significantly to this benefit would be the Stamp Duty Holiday that has seen increased activity in the property market.
Work from home
The Lockdown and the greatly increased amount of the work from home culture has meant that those families who have previously been tied to physically going into an office in the City daily now have the flexibility to be more selective over where they live whilst still fulfilling their work commitments.
The option of the 'Country' has given people the opportunity of choosing a lifestyle where they comply with their obligations in terms of work and not having to be in smaller London properties.
Working from home in small properties can be very restrictive space wise. A property in the Country would usually offer more space for the same price or less than in the Greater London area, thus combining lifestyle and work in a larger space. And a garden may be an additional bonus from homes available out of the City.
Country life
The relaxing open surroundings and the practise of various activities from scenic walking paths and cycling adds to one's well-being and healthy living for children and Parents alike.
Schools are generally less crowded which ultimately offers children a more enjoyable and happy education.
A recent Sunday Times Poll has voted Stroud in Gloucestershire the best place to live in the UK for 2021 out of 78 other areas citing the following:
- Great community spirit
- Most popular markets
- Fantastic walks
It is quite clear that people want a bit more Country!
