Cotswolds here we come!
We packed up the car on a rainy Manchester morning and headed to our first stop of the trip - Castle Combe. We watched as the city skyline faded into rolling hills, and redbrick turned to golden. As we wandered around, soaking up Cotswold stone cottages and dinky village streets, we couldn't help but feel like we'd stepped back in time - no new houses have been built in this tiny Wiltshire village since the 1600s. Before you leave, make sure to pop into The Old Rectory tearoom for a slice of cake - or three. This place is delicious - and the coffee comes strong and piping hot.
Bourton-on-the-Water - The Venice of the Cotswolds
Another favourite of mine from my trip to the Cotswolds, was the utterly gorgeous Bourton on the Water.
We crossed over elegant bridges, popped into local shops and gasped at the utterly gorgeous, quintessentially British cottages that sit on either side of the River Windrush. Here, take your time. Soak up the atmosphere. And, when you've had your fill, pop into the local bakery for some hearty grub or the famous fish and chip shop that sits in the village centre.
Just scratching the surface
I hope this video guide gives you a flavour for what the Cotswolds has to offer. We had the most wonderful time here, and barely scratched the surface.
