Tetbury Visitor Information Centre

We usually park in the car park next to the Tourist Information Centre and I have to give a shout out to the friendly, warm and informative staff as the information available is extremely useful to make the most out of your visit/stay in Tetbury, and of course any adventure in the Cotswolds would not be complete without purchasing a souvenir from the Information Centre.

St Mary and the Virgin and St Mary Magdalen, Tetbury

As we approached the St Mary the Virgin and St Magdalen Church, we were blown away by the magnificence of the spire against the back drop of the stunning blue sky. The elegant church is stunning as you can see from photos with Sassie Snow Drops who is also in awe. The graveyards are well kept and maintained.

The Church is defiantly worth a visit and there are guides inside who have so much knowledge of the history of the church and who are extremely helpful.

The Church was built in 1777, before this there was a medieval church on the site and people have been worshiping here since 681 AD.

Dogs are allowed around the grounds however must be kept on leads at all times.

The Chipping Steps, Tetbury

We all loved the cobbled steps and a must for keen photographers. These medieval cobbled steps will keep you busy with all the views to admire.

The quiet weavers cottages as you ascend up the steps are just a delight and when you reach the top of Chipping Steps, the view is pretty and inspiring and you can see 'The Chipping' which is an old market place.

The steps are quite steep, and I would recommend flat shoes, however our pack of misfits climbed the steps with ease.

The Market House, Tetbury

We have all enjoyed mooching through the Wednesday markets in the past and the gang have especially enjoyed the smells and friendly faces.

Originally built in 1655, this grade 1 listed building has been hosting markets since it was first built and you can see why with its shelter from the rain and heat.

Tetbury Police Station and Museum

Former police station and petty season court, however is now the Tetbury Council Offices and Police Museum. The Police station was built in 1883 and is classic Tudor Gothic design.

This is a fab place to visit, you can visit the cells and the reconstruction of a court room. There are pieces of interest of time gone by such as uniforms, motor cycles, newspaper cuttings and handcuffs. Furry friends are not permitted in the Museum and even if they were the space is small and with think the cells would have reminded them of the sad times spent in the doggy rescue centres.

Shoppers Paradise

There are four main streets in abundant with fabulous cafes, restaurants, boutiques, delis and independent retail stores and antique stores. Tetbury is famed as being known as antique capital of Gloucestershire.

As Tetbury is a town with Royal connections as Prince Charles lives near by at High Groove, then not to visit the The High Groove Shop would seem rude. This shop is in the center of a Tetbury and the items available at the shop are of outstanding quality and the service is spot on.

Though we love to shop and have supplied you with photos of some of our favorite places, shopping is a bore for our four legged companions so in the past we have stopped off at one of the local cafes and grabbed a snack and stroll around to admire the town. For those of you who chose to stay in Tetbury for a few days, I would really recommend as there are so many quality establishments offering dog friendly accommodation and places to eat.

Tetbury Goods Shed

We love this place and its easy to find, from the Market Hall, follow the signs to the free long term car park and turn between The Snooty Fox Hotel and Quayle's delicatessen.

The bonus here is that dogs are made to feel very welcome, and the coffee is amazing, not to mention the freshly cooked foods. Fab outside seating arrangements.

Tetbury Goods Shed Art Centre is also an arts venue and holds events which can be found on their website.
