Visit Blenheim Palace

Where better to start than the magnificent Blenheim Palace!

There are two ticket options at Blenheim Palace - The Palace, Park & Gardens ticket and the Park & Gardens ticket. While these two paid-for options grant access to the wonderful Palace itself and the spectacular gardens (depending which ticket option you choose), there's also a way that you can enjoy the Blenheim Palace Estate for free.

There is a public footpath that passes through the Bleheim Estate. You can access this from a couple of locations including Woodstock and Combe and enjoy many parts of the Estate. However, access to the Palace and the Gardens is for ticket holders only.

Why not bring a picnic and relax under one of the impressive oak trees or overlooking the Lake after building up an appetite exploring the grounds.

If you're visiting Blenheim Palace for the first time then we would encourage you to choose the Palace Park & Gardens ticket so that you can explore everyting this Unesco World Heritage Site has to offer.

And while in the area, be sure to explore the lovely town of Woodstock.

Visit a museum in Oxford

Oxford is home to a number of excellent museums. Perfect for those days when the weather didctates indoor activities, but also ideal for stimulating young family members whatever the weather!

The Ashmolean Museum

Weston Library

The Weston Library is the home of the Bodleian Libraries' special collections including manuscripts and archives, rare books, printed ephemera, maps, music and digitized collections in libraries across Oxford.

The Weston Library has three reading rooms for readers to consult special collections material. These are the Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Room, Sir Charles Mackerras Reading Room and The Charles Wendell David Reading Room.

Minster Lovell Hall

Hidden amidst the tranquil countryside near Witney, Oxfordshire, lies a remarkable piece of ancient history waiting to be discovered - North Leigh Roman Villa.

North Leigh Roman Villa rests peacefully amidst a serene landscape on the banks of the river Evenlode. Regarded as one of the grander villas in Roman Britain, this courtyard villa reached its peak during the early 4th century. Its expansive layout boasted three bath suites, 16 exquisite mosaic floors, and 11 rooms equipped with under-floor heating. Presently, visitors can witness two sections of the former courtyard design of this historic villa. However, the standout feature of this site is undoubtedly its remarkable mosaic tile floor from the early 4th century.

Millets Farm near Abingdon in Oxfordshire has been run by the Carter family since 1952. There's lots to do on site, both free activities (including Animal Walkway and exploring Phoebe Woods and Wetland) and those for which charges apply such as the Falconry Centre, Farmyard Golf and Sprouts Play Barn. There's also the Farm Shop, Garden Centre and restaurant eating areas.

Towards the bottom of the Animal Walkway there's a dedicated area where duck food can be thrown for the water fowl visitors to enjoy. Special duck food is available to purchase in the Farm Shop.

So there's lots to do at Milles Farm - Why not make a day of it and bring a picnic. There are designated areas throughout the site for you to do so.
