The Model Village in Bourton on the Water can be found behind the Old New Inn and is a one ninth scale model of Bourton-on-the-Water.

At Bourton model village you will find the river Windrush with its distinctive bridges, the beeches, willows and chestnuts all in miniature. At the churches you can even hear the choirs.

Bourton Model Village Information

The Bourton on the Water model village was built by local craftsmen in the 1930's and opened in 1937, on the Coronation day of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

The buildings in the Model Village are constructed and maintained in Cotswold stone from the local quarry.

Bourton on the Water Model Village is a unique experience which appeals to all ages, the Model Village remains one of the Cotswolds most popular tourist attractions.

The Model Village even has a model of the village!

We certainly think you should visit Bourton Model village!

There a lot to see and do in Bourton-on-the-Water, so if you are only visiting for a day then you should plan your trip so that you don't miss out any of the great attractions Bourton has to offer.

It will take around 20 to 30 minutes to walk around Bourton Model Village, but if you have inquisitive children, or want to really take in all the wonderful details, then allow up to 1 hour for your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - The Model Village

Due to narrow paths and steps, there is no room for pushchairs to enter the Model Village. There is a pushchair parking area beside the entrance where you can leave your pushchair before taking your children into the Model Village where they will feel like giants among the tiny buildings!

Many of the paths around Bourton Model Village are too narrow for wheelchairs. Disabled visitors can gain access to the Model Village through a side gate (free of charge). It is only possible to view the Model Village from the front. Mobility scooters and motorised wheelchairs cannot access the Model Village.
