Polo at Cirencester Park

Polo at Cirencester Park

Cirencester Park Polo Club was inaugurated in the summer of 1894 and in 1909 Lord Bathurst gave permission for Ivy Lodge to be "boarded". Well over 100 years later, Ivy Lodge is still home to some of the finest polo matches in the country.

In the 1920s the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) played polo at Cirencester Park, and the modern day Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, has also played polo at the Park as has his two sons, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

Polo is also played at Beaufort Park Polo Club, home to the famous Tomlinson polo dynasty. The Club plays host to the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo.

Edgeworth Park near Stroud was established in 1990, with chukkas running from May to September.
